THE DAY THE COLORS WENT ON STRIKE

By Matthew J. Welker, Ed.D.

When young Leo mixes all his paints together and creates a dull, muddy mess, he never expects the colors to feel hurt enough to go on strike. The next morning, he wakes to a gray, lifeless world where the sky, trees, and sunshine have lost their sparkle. Determined to restore the beauty he once took for granted, Leo sets out on a magical journey to find Red, Blue, and Yellow, the three primary colors who have disappeared in protest.

As Leo listens to each color’s feelings and learns why they matter, he discovers an important lesson about appreciating individuality, working together with care, and creating harmony through respect. Filled with imagination, emotion, and vibrant storytelling, this charming picture book inspires young readers to celebrate differences, express creativity thoughtfully, and understand that every contribution helps make the world brighter.
